7 Days Wildlife Safari: Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Samburu, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara

Venture Africa Budget Safaris representative will meet you at the airport or your hotel and after your breakfast. You will be introduced to your guide and given a full briefing regarding your safari programme. Once these final details are settled you begin your journey to Sweetwaters Tented Camp, in the secluded heart of the Ol Pejeta ranch and rhino sanctuary. Lunch is served at the camp. Sweetwaters is built on a private ranch and supports a large number of game including elephant and giraffe, and it is one of the few places where you have access to night game drives. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

After breakfast, drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve, located high above the banks of the life giving Ewaso Nyiro River. Lunch is served at the lodge. Afternoon game viewing in the reserve, filled with scenic beauty and renowned for its unique species including the Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, gerenuk and Grevy’s zebra. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Before dawn your driver guide will be ready for an early morning search for hunting cats. Later return to the lodge for breakfast and relax at the swimming pool before the next game drive in the late afternoon. All meals and overnight at the lodge.

After an early breakfast depart as you drive south through Isiolo, crossing the northernmost foothills of Mount Kenya until Nanyuki town. Thereafter, head west to Nyahururu Falls, still known to many as Thomson’s Falls. After a brief stopover, drive southward to your next destination, Lake Nakuru, home to great flocks of flamingo lining its shores. An afternoon game drive around the lake shore, with dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

Early breakfast at the lodge, depart flamingo fringed Lake Nakuru and proceed southwards, turning right at Maai Mahiu to ascend over the top of the Mau Escarpment and continue to the Masai Mara. Lunch is served at the lodge. After lunch and some time to relax, depart with your driver guide for an afternoon game drive in search of the big five. As the sun starts to dip towards the horizon it is the perfect time to photograph the Mara’s rolling plains, and the right time to spot the shy leopard. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge.

The day starts with an early morning game drive before dawn, later returning to the Lodge for breakfast and relaxing for the rest of the late morning, perhaps taking a dip at the swimming pool. Later in the afternoon return to the wilderness in search of game. All meals and overnight at the camp.

After breakfast your guide will pick you up and proceed to the Masai village for a cultural visit. Later you drive back to Nairobi with lunch on the way, arriving in the evening. An optional dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant can be arranged at an extra cost, after which you are transferred to the airport to connect your flight home, or to your hotel in Nairobi.
