This five day group joining safari runs from Nairobi by shuttle across the Namanga border, which keeps the cost down and removes the need for a flight. From Arusha it takes in Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its tree climbing lions and for the enormous flocks of flamingos that gather on the shallow soda lake beneath the Rift Valley escarpment.
The safari then moves up into the Ngorongoro highlands and down into the crater itself, a collapsed caldera two thousand feet deep holding lion, elephant, buffalo, black rhino and one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa. It is a well paced introduction to northern Tanzania for travellers who want the crater without the longer drive out to the Serengeti. Park entrance fees, accommodation, all meals on safari and a professional guide are included.
