This six day traverse is the most ambitious of our Mount Kenya programmes, ascending the direct Naro Moru Route and descending by Chogoria, with an attempt on Batian at 5,199m for those with the experience for it. Batian is the true summit of Mount Kenya and, unlike Point Lenana, it is a technical rock climb requiring ropes and an abseil descent from Nelion.
The route builds through the Met Station and Mackinder’s Camp to Austrian Hut at 4700m, with a peak circuit day and Point Lenana included before the Batian attempt. The extra night at altitude matters here, both for acclimatisation and for weather flexibility. Park fees, full board, porters, a skilled cook, treated water, an English speaking guide and your certificate are included. Please talk to us about your climbing experience when booking.
