The Sirimon Route is the driest and gentlest of the main approaches to Mount Kenya, rising through forest and heathland on the north western side of the mountain before opening into the Mackinder Valley beneath the main peaks. Over five days you climb steadily from Nanyuki to Point Lenana at 4,985m, the trekking summit of Africa’s second highest mountain, reached at dawn on the fourth morning.
Because the ascent is spread across three nights on the mountain, at Old Moses and Shipton’s camps, the route gives your body time to adjust before summit night. No technical climbing is required, only fitness and a steady pace. Park fees, full board on the mountain, porters, a skilled cook, treated water, an English speaking mountain guide and your summit certificate are all included.
